Muerte à la Mode
“A Día de los Muertos Celebración with a twist”
Muerte a la mode is a show that will examine the rituals associated with the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The focus of the exhibit is to bring artists together to re-examine the ritualistic traditions that occur, not just in Latin America but across all cultures. There is a wide spectrum of rituals we all have when it comes to honoring the deceased. In this show artists are encouraged to explore their own traditions as well as those of others. The scope of work is not limited to representing traditional rituals but also showing contemporary rituals in which we celebrate the deceased.
Location: The Bitter Chef Cafe 601 E. Broadway Long Beach, CA 90802
Show Dates: Friday October 29th, through Saturday November 27th
Submission Requirements:
· 2 dimensional artwork only, mixed media, paintings, photography, and digital art are acceptable. Only artwork produced within the last year
· Artwork cannot exceed 33” x 33” length and width
· Artwork must be Ready to Hang, no submissions will be accepted if not supplied with proper hanging hardware
· $5 dollar entry fee for each artwork submission, 1 form per submission
· Entry fee and entry form must be submitted by October 4th, 2010
· Artwork must be delivered by Monday October 25th, 2010
· Exhibiting fee of 30% will be applied to all artwork sold
